Professor Huang Tairan and Visiting Student Delegation from University of Wollongong, Australia, Visit IBS
On the afternoon of July 11, 2024, the Department of Finance and Accounting at the International Business School hosted an exchange event in Room 1111, Wenlan Building, with a visiting student delegation from the University of Wollongong, Australia. The visiting delegation was led by Professor Huang Tairan and comprised 15 international undergraduate students. Faculty members Ren Haiyun, Li Zhengfeng, Guo Yujing, Lu Di, and Zhu Danfeng, along with several undergraduate and graduate students from IBS, participated in the exchange activities. Professor Huang Tairan's research primarily focuses on accounting history, ESG ratings, and accounting education. The seminar covered topics including the development of the Financial Management program, visiting scholar opportunities, and study abroad prospects for undergraduate and graduate students.
At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Li Zhengfeng, an IBS faculty member and University of Wollongong alumnus, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. He introduced the current state of disciplinary development and achievements in talent cultivation at IBS, with a particular focus on sharing the school's experiences and accomplishments in financial practice and teaching. Dr. Huang and the student representatives expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and provided insights into the accounting profession and accounting education in Australia. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on issues such as ESG reporting and ratings. During the seminar, students from both universities introduced each other to their respective cultures and lifestyles, sharing feelings and perspectives on hobbies, academic research, campus life, and more. The seminar proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with the exchanges and discussions fostering mutual understanding, friendship, and establishing strong bonds of communication and sharing among the students.
Concluding the visit, IBS faculty and students accompanied the delegation to tour the University's Educational Museum. The visiting team remarked that it was a highly meaningful and valuable experience; through observing ancient artifacts, historical documents, and illustrated exhibition panels, they gained an appreciation for the long history and profound heritage of Chinese education.
This seminar deepened the cooperation in academic exchange and talent cultivation between IBS and the University of Wollongong, Australia. It built a platform for cross-cultural exchange for Chinese and international students and provided an opportunity for the college to further expand its international cooperation and exchanges. We look forward to more in-depth exchanges and collaboration between faculty and students of both universities in the future, jointly promoting academic and practical development in the field of financial management.
