IBS Party Secretary Si Peifeng Attends AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference 2024
From June 4 to June 8, 2024, a delegation from the International Business School, led by Party Secretary Si Peifeng and including Associate Professor Lan Juanli, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Accreditation Office, traveled to Indonesia to participate in the "AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference 2024," organized by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The conference brought together over 300 representatives from 21 countries or regions across the Asia Pacific and beyond, including more than 80 business school colleagues from over 30 institutions in Mainland China.
The delegation departed on Xiamen Airlines flight via Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport at 11:25 on June 4, transiting and arriving at their destination at 23:05. After completing conference registration and familiarizing themselves with the agenda on June 5, Party Secretary Si Peifeng attended the "Business School Leaders (Dean/Party Secretary) Joint Meeting" chaired by Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President, Chief Member Officer, and Managing Director for Asia Pacific at AACSB. Subsequently, the two delegation members exchanged experiences regarding AACSB accreditation with leaders and colleagues from fellow Chinese institutions participating in the conference.
The second day of the conference featured four keynote speeches and four parallel breakout sessions. The keynote speeches focused on topics such as leadership in an uncertain future, technology standards for accreditation, alignment of international and domestic standards, and the role of new technologies and AI in empowering social impact. The breakout sessions addressed technical issues arising in both initial accreditation and re-accreditation processes, and delved into common pitfalls in faculty classification and how institutional strategic planning can keep pace with contemporary developments. The platform provided by the conference enabled the delegation to broaden their network, share experiences, discuss collaboration opportunities, and contribute to the global discourse on Chinese business education.
On June 7, the conference held three keynote lectures, a dedicated exchange session for Chinese institutions, and an exchange session for Asia Pacific institutions. The third day's keynote lectures centered on three themes: "Metrics for Measuring Business School Social Impact," "Common Misinterpretations and Myths in Implementing Accreditation Standards," and "The Mission-Driven Path to Business School Accreditation." The Asia Pacific institutional exchange session fostered lively discussions on the impact of AI technology on business education in a relaxed yet enthusiastic atmosphere.
At 12:30 AM on June 7, the delegation departed on a Xiamen Airlines flight, transiting through Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport and arriving at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport at 12:35 PM on June 8. The conference proved highly fruitful, providing deep insights into the future direction of business education and a renewed understanding of AACSB accreditation standards. Upon their return, under the leadership of Party Secretary Si Peifeng, the International Accreditation Office immediately convened to discuss and arrangement detailed arrangements for the next phase of accreditation work.
