Our School Successfully Held the 2025 Graduate Student Role Model Sharing Session, Themed “Leading by Example, Walking Together with Youth.”

Recently, the 2025 Graduate Student Role Model Sharing Session, themed “Leading by Example, Walking Together with Youth,” was successfully held in Classroom 1319 of Wenjin Building, organized by the Career Development and Service Department of the Graduate Student Union of our school. The event was attended by Yang Tao, Graduate Student Counselor, and all first-year graduate students of the Class of 2024. The sharing session was moderated by Ma Xinyi.

Li Yang, a student from the Class of 2022 Economics program, who successfully passed the civil service examination, was the first to share his preparation experience. Approaching the topic from three dimensions—time management, practice with past exam papers, and policy interpretation—he systematically outlined strategies for key stages of the written examination and interview, drawing on his own preparation schedule. In response to students’ concerns regarding position selection and competitive pressure, he advised “early planning, precise preparation, and a stable mindset,” emphasizing the importance of consistent daily effort.

Gao Yilin, also from the Class of 2022 Economics program, delivered a presentation titled “Overwhelming Research Skills,” sharing her comprehensive experience from topic selection to paper publication. Drawing on her own case of publishing in an SCI-indexed journal, she provided an in-depth analysis of literature retrieval methods, key elements of theoretical framework construction, and common pitfalls in empirical analysis. She also revealed her disciplined habit of “intensively reading three top-tier journal papers per week.” During the Q&A session, she offered practical advice on the challenge of entering interdisciplinary research, suggesting a “problem-oriented approach to rapidly address knowledge gaps,” which resonated strongly with the audience.

Che Jianhua, a student from the Class of 2022 Economics program, focused on academic advancement, sharing insights on two core areas: writing core academic papers and preparing materials for doctoral program applications. Regarding the pursuit of a doctorate, he advised identifying target institutions early and emphasized the importance of sustained accumulation of research achievements over short-term intensive efforts. His candid and practical sharing was met with enthusiastic applause.

Wang Jingyu, current Executive President of the Graduate Student Union and a student from the Class of 2023 Master of Professional Accounting program, presented on the theme “A Two-Way Journey of Service and Growth,” sharing his practical experience in balancing academic studies with student leadership responsibilities. Using concrete examples such as the Time Management Quadrant Method and the “passing on, helping, and guiding” mechanism for team collaboration, he vividly illustrated how to achieve self-improvement amidst demanding responsibilities. Addressing the common pitfall of “student leaders becoming overly absorbed in routine tasks,” he emphasized the importance of cultivating planning skills through organizing activities and enhancing communication abilities through conflict mediation.

Following the sharing session, the moderator, Ma Xinyi, delivered a summary of the event. The experience shared by outstanding graduate students of our school not only ignited the academic enthusiasm and motivation of the Class of 2024 graduate students but also provided valuable references for the growth trajectories of current graduate students.
